Level 2, Week 2

Just started my second week of level 2. The first week was a bit of a challenge. I found myself with a certain level of anxiety during the days, something I didn't experience in level 1. So much so that on Friday I experienced a level of stress that I haven't experienced in some time, and I could not pinpoint why. Almost brought me to tears...and that has been QUITE some time. I am in the middle of some significant financial issues, working to build a new business, and in school, but I have been able to handle all without too much stress. Friday was a real surprise becuase there was nothing earth-shattering to bring on that level of stress...

The bells seem to introduce, to me anyway, a sense of discord. I am not getting the peaceful serenity that I experienced in level 1. I will press forward and attempt to focus on the water relaxation, and see what the next few weeks bring...I am committed to the journey!

Hi Jeff,

I'm also in my second week on level 2, and although I've had no difficulties, this Lucid Echoes cd is VERY different from the first cd.

Like you mention, that soothing relaxation experienced in level 1, isn't so easily attained in level 2. However, level 2's entrainment will take you deeper than the first cd, but I've noticed you have to still your mind to experience the effect. If your mind is restless, the session has a tendency to be quite irritating.

Those bells don't help, of course, but if you can manage to put your mind into a relaxed state, about 15 minutes into the session is when the magic comes, where the audio can take you into a really deep space that will extend to the end of the 30 minute period. It's a delicate deepness, though, which is why the mind has to be relaxed prior to that threshold.

So I'm guessing what was learned in level 1, that feel of being relaxed, has to be called upon in level 2. You have to get yourself into that relaxed feeling, and then allow the audio to take you deeper.

Just my thoughts on the process. I hope it helps.

Hello there Jeff,

I was very chuffed to read about your "anxiety", increased "stress" compared with level 1, and "almost being moved to tears". It confirmed something I have been puzzling over for a good while. You may find the post I have recently written entitled "Bliss is back, Level 3 round 2" (or something pretty similar, can't see the title of my post while I write this) of relevance. It is pretty long, sorry. In a nutshell I discovered the explanation for this experience of 'getting in touch with specific emotions' is called "belief phenomenon" by the developers of Open Focus (a self-directed type of entrainment that helps to broaden our mode of attention). According the Fehmis, we tend to believe that these emotions are generated by the BrainEv session, but, in reality, these feelings are always present. The entrainment is successfully enabling us to relax sufficiently to 'reconnect' with feelings/emotions/stuff that in our 'normal' mode of day to day functioning is sufficiently suppressed to be out of our conscious reach.

So good for you! Things are surfacing already and you are just starting level 2. Excellent!

I remember finding the bells 'upsetting' when I first heard them because I linked the bell tolling with a lonely country graveyard, it kind of made me wonder if I was attending my own burial or that of someone I loved.

After a couple of sessions I realised these 'emotions' were upsetting me enough to stop me flowing into the BrainEv session and I resisted entrainment. Next time, before I started, I found 'happier connotations' to associate with the tolling bell. I could then find a sense of peace, utter tranquility like one finds in green, rolling countryside when I heard the bells.  The upset feelings were absent from then onwards and I just loved level 2.

I have just moved onto level 3 (with sounds of waves sloshing about) and this time round, it triggered some anxiety too. Drowning? Don't know. Then I remembered the Open Focus "belief phenomena" concept, and realised that this 'anxiety' lies within, and BrainEv is simply putting me in touch with something that had always been there. So I can feel good and successful in knowing that I am relaxing more and more which allows me to feel things I used to tune out of.

So, from my point of view, Jeff, your experience is ALL GOOD NEWS. You are doing just great. Well done. May your journey continue to be an amazing voyage within. All the best, Purest Bliss  ;D

While I think Robert and Pure Bliss both made very good points, I would like to add my two cents worth.

If focusing on the on the water relaxation means fighting what is coming up, I would not recommend it. Rather accept the stress without judgment because it may be trying to tell you something about yourself. Brain Ev does not create stress, any more than it creates the boredom some others experience. What it does is relax the mind so what is already there can come up.

The stress you felt is coming from somewhere inside of you. Relax and allow it to be there and it may either let you know what, inside yourself, is causing it, or it may transform all on its own once it is accepted without judgment.

Just my take on things.

Right on, Dreamer!! Tiffany zeroed in on your most impressive (and IMPORTANT) words. You have it exactly right. BrainEv needs a new slogan that says, "Don't Blame The Program". :o

My wonderful, but coming-up-to-exams-stressed-out daughter is experimenting with level 1 of BrainEv, just for the relaxing, calming effect. This morning she reported that as soon as the track starts she gets this sensation of dread inside, and has to keep her eyes open for the first five minutes as it is so scary. I could pass on your wisdom, Dreamer. Post session, I knew she felt good. Much more open, happy and calm. I am so glad for her. I shall remind myself to experience without judgment whatever I sense as I too feel odd body sensations especially during Chakra Cleansing and Open Focus. (Guess BrainEv feels a very safe space for me now  8), so not much resistance from me to that!) Adieu, Pure Bliss

Thanks so much for all of your insights. They have definitely been helpful! Thanks, Dreamer, for your suggestion. I have sense started to accept whatever comes along and try and relax through it. It has helped. I am nearly complete with Level 2 and will be moving on to Level 3 shortly.
