Hi,

I just got Brainev and I am using it in my sansa m250 mp3 player.  Just now I used it with Sennheiser MD80 phones but ordered a new set of over the ear ones.  I tried the cheapo Sony ones with the foam but they don't have very good fidelity.  I will say the sound of the files is way different depending on the headphones used.

I just got into entrainment but have always been into white noise which I have used since I was ten years old and discovered it in white water.  Now I am 56.

I tried Lifeflow and liked it but after a week I decided to cancel it and get Brainev because I thought the Lifeflow was too expensive.  So, now I am using Brainev.

I have been meditating for over 25 years but do like using sound and want to deepen.  Someone recommended Holosync to me but I thought that was way too pricey so tried lifeflow and now Brainev.  I have had it a couple days.  I have been using entrainment for a couple weeks and finding it powerful.  I do it along with Open Focus which I tell myself in my mind to focus on various body parts etc....

Hi Shivatar, welcome to the forum!

Usually cheapest is best when it comes to headphones and brainwave entrainment.  You don't want any special effects such as bass boost, noise cancellation or other things that could damage or distort the entrainment signal.

Here are the details and specifications:

I use cheapo Dynex headphones with the foam ears.

Hello Shivatar,
Like Tiffany, I welcome you to the forum.
Your post drew my attention because you are an Open Focus user/veteran, while I am just dipping my toes into Open Focus waters..... but I do have 9 months of BrainEv under my belt!

Quote
I do it [Brain Ev]along with Open Focus which I tell myself in my mind to focus on various body parts etc....

Shivatar, if I were you I would not do Open Focus 'imaginings' while you listen to your BrainEv session.  BrainEv is a 'stand-alone' product, and really the less we force/manipulate/interfere with the process the better it will be for you. Why do I say this? Well BrainEv does its stuff (giving us a thorough mental marathon through specific brainwave frequencies at each level) whether we like it or not! That is why it suited me so well. While I would have liked to be a great meditator, unfortunately that has escaped me. [Not only am I a forum chatterer, I am also a mental chatterer, so 'shutting up' the voices in my head really was beyond my pre BrainEv ability.] Yet when I put on those headphones and just heard (note I say heard as in passive hearing, not active listening, the whole point being to 'let go') the track AMAZING THINGS HAPPENED. I suddenly understood what the meditators of this world were jabbering on about. My mind grew still. I could sleep at night. I became calm, well-rooted, unflappable. The magic of BrainEv is it does all this for you. If you run visualisations or Open Focus "can you imagine....." techniques along side it, I think you run the risk of sabotaging BrainEv.

By glorious synchronicity, I flapped the Open Focus book open at the explanation for why Open Focus is so useful at delivering high amplitude, synchronised alphawaves. So I will share this with you, and others should they care to read this, as I believe BrainEv and Open Focus should not be used simultaneously.

Les Fehmi states that the idea of space, nothingness, timelessness (you know the stuff he delivers in his meditations) have a strong, long-lasting, powerful effect of switching the brain into high amplitude alpha. He runs through various body parts, i.e. "Can you imagine the space between your ears?" and Bang! the brain area responsible for this part of our body goes into high amplitude alpha. "Can you possibly imagine the space between your chin and your eyebrows?" and bingo! you start to produce high amplitude alpha in that area of your brain that handles those body parts. The result is a whole brain symphony of high altitude alphawaves as he (and we if we follow his meditation) guides us through our whole body, the area outside our body etc. etc. This certainly works for me and I am totally 'alpha-ed out', there is so much alpha symphony that I CANNOT keep alert (so he effectively shuts down my beta-chatterbox).

Back to BrainEv. If you look through the introductory videos, which I cannot recommend highly enough if you want any idea of what is going on during sessions, you will be guided through a whole range of frequences, a vast array of alpha, the whole theta range and plenty of delta too. The frequencies and depths vary with each level. So to use an alpha-inducing technique such as Open Focus may really interfere with BrainEv by preventing you from shifting through all the frequencies.

Nothing to stop you doing Open Focus outside your sessions (maybe space them well apart) - though the BrainEv crew don't recommend using two long term entrainment programs simultaneously. That is your decision. However, I think you will find BrainEv delivers such a pleasant punch over the next few weeks that you won't want ANYTHING to interfere or dilute the experience.

Enjoy your journey. I look forward to hearing how you get on. The other frequencies are fun and rewarding too, not just alpha! Have a magical journey, Pure Bliss

Hi Shivatar,

Welcome to the forum.

I have to say that I agree with Pure Bliss. I've used audio entrainment for quite a while, and I do use some audio entrainment for very specific inner work involving mental imaging and self-hypnosis. However, I don't find this agreeable with BrainEv. The audio entrainment is designed to be "listened to", as the multiple layered frequencies are designed to work your brain's electrical activity into a very unique process.

In contrast, I just recently reviewed the audio entrainment pattern used in Level 7, in which inner work is encouraged, and the difference is, the frequencies layered in Level 7 run congruent with each other (more or less).

I hope you enjoy the program. I just started level 2, and I'm really loving BrainEv.

Best wishes, Robert

personally i think Bose head phones work well as they are designed to keep all sounds at near perfect levels no enhancements to sound. I just did the  power chill then followed up with happiness pill. I was wondering if running each program back to back is ok? waiting for  Brain ev to arrive

Hello Shivatar and welcome to the forum!!

My answer to you re: using Power Chill followed by Happiness Pill is as follows:

It depends.  The problem lies in you not wanting to cancel out any positive effects of the first program by using a second one back-to-back.  Therefore, put a few hours space in between the two and you should be ok.  Also, the time of day should be taken into consideration (e.g. not use theta in the AM prior to going to work as you may be sluggish (tired) throughout the day afterwards, etc). Generally speaking, alpha/beta/gamma frequencies are best in the AM, theta or delta (or even Alpha) best in the evening. So plan ahead.

I used Brain Salon's Razor Sharp Focus IMMEDIATELY prior to a BrainEv session and got GREAT results.  Another person, however, may not see such positive results for themselves.  Be flexible and experiment for yourself and determine what works best for you--if you encounter red flags, heed them.  Best of luck in your quest using entrainment.
Sincerely and best regards,

AZ Warrior!
