Children and BrainEv
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:56:46 AM »
Does anyone know if this program, even for just 5 or 10 minutes would be OK for a child that doesn't have any medical conditions? My son is 5 and is very hyper. I was hoping to use these with him so that he can get calm and focus better in school because the teacher is telling me he may need to be held back?
Any info you may have would be great.
Thanks so much, happy sessions!

Hi Lavender125,

Officially, we only recommend the BrainEv or Brain Salon programs for individuals aged over 18. Check the disclaimer here:

http://support.brainev.com/fda-disclaimer

The Brain Evolution System and The Brain Salon are designed to be used by adults and it is our recommendation that only those over the age of 18 should use it.  If you choose to let your child listen, children under the age of 18 should be examined by a physician for epilepsy or illnesses that may contribute to seizures prior to the use of brainwave entrainment, as they are more susceptible to seizures.

Thank you for that. My son may have ADHD and I am looking for alternative ways to help heal him if this is the case; I want to avoid medications.
Do you have any suggesstions, then, if BrainEV can't be a possibility?

Have a great day. Blessed Be!

Hi Leslie,

I'm sorry but I don't know much about ADHD to be able to recommend anything.  Maybe some of the other members here will have a suggestion.

Hello Lavender125,

I don't remember where, but I seem to remember reading that Brain Ev works well for ADHD children. But that was done in a clinic environment with doctors overseeing the whole situation. I do know that it seems to have worked well for me, but everyone is different. I wouldn't try it without going through your son's doctor for full evaluation, both before beginning and checking with him/ on him regularly throughout the six month session.

Hi Leslie,

Hope you understand the situation here. I think people err on the side of caution, and certainly our own policies do.

I would speak with your doctor/GP if you can regarding this :)

Thanks!

Karl

Hello Leslie,
Open Focus may be just the solution you need for your son.
There is no 'entrainment' per se (though it feels as if there is when I do it!), there are even programs for kids, and best of all for you: they claim ADD and ADHD are just ways of paying attention. Open Focus is all about learning to pay attention (narrow/hyper focus; soft focus; wide-view lens etc etc). You could do the sessions together with your son, and any other family members, so it might be more entertaining as you get to share feedback, results and real life applications.
There are two books, Open Focus and the other one Dissolving Pain with Open Focus. Both can be got cheaply via Amazon and come with a CD of Open Focus exercises.
I use it, though not for ADD or ADHD. So does NickR, also on the forum. Cannot vouch for the ADD/ADHD aspect, but if you read the Dissolving Pain book first, you will come across their claims. Here is the Open Focus site: http://www.openfocus.com/products/
You can see the Open Focus for kids on that page. However I would recommend you work with it, read the books (theory behind it) first so that you can help your son gain the best outcome for him. More nice news: you can use it with BrainEv - no worries about overdoing entrainment or anything!
Hope this helps,
Pure Bliss

Thanks for the info, Bliss, I will look into that tonight! I am so glad that there are people like you who do their best to give the information that could change lives. Hope it is as good as you say it is. And it works alongside with BrainEv, too?!!?....great!
