Almost a week into Level 2
« on: December 18, 2011, 07:14:11 AM »
Okay, so I'm a newbie. Nothing dramatic going on for me. Here is what I find so far: Liked level 1 although about 3 weeks into it I started to get antsy wanting to move on to level 2 (curiosity factor kicked in big time). Level 2 I actually like better so far. The bells are not bothering me. I find them pleasant. I guess I'm supposed to find them challenging--not yet anyway. Maybe they will become an irritant later, but right now I'm actually liking them...

The most remarkable thing for me is that I am faithfully doing this program and have not stopped or dropped the ball by skipping my BrainEv sessions (I have a tendency to dabble). Maybe I'm just curious to see if there will be any differences in six months but maybe something is really happening to help strengthen my focus...

Hello Sayjess. It is good to hear you are responding well to Brain Ev, in you are really, willing, wanting to continue. I know I felt antsy during level 1 and was much calmer during level 2. I, also, found the bells to be pleasant and rather than distracting me they helped me to maintain focus. I am currently on level 4 and have not hit any walls or bumps in the road yet. I do know I am feeling and functioning much better now than I was before Brain Ev.

Please keep posting about your experiences.

Dreamer

Thanks, Dreamer. Good to hear someone else had the same experience with level 2. Very encouraging!

I am about the same with level 2 and so far in some ways prefer it, since I find it easier to keep focused on listening to all the distractions contained within the recording, and don't wander off into internal chatter so easily as with level 1 which I found boring although I did stick with it and found it strangely calming at the end of a busy day or before a night shift it did pick me up a bit albeit sending my mind wandering off at different tangents, I still felt better even if I ended up thinking of other things during almost the entire 30 mins I usally found on the occassions I did relax into it that toward the end I was checking to see how much further to go and was bored by that point.

Hi Sayjess, Dreamer and GadgetGirl,
Interesting points you all brought up. Isn't it wonderful to have a forum where one can share honestly what one experiences? I find the very act of having to write a post focuses my mind and clarity comes. Too often we listen to the mental chatter and actually believe what we tell ourselves (i.e "this isn't working for me", "I'm bored", "I'm distracted by those bells" or whatever.

@ Sayjess: I also found level 2 to be wonderful. On my second session I associated the bells and quiet country sounds with a country graveyard and funerals..... suddenly those bells didn't seem so relaxing and enjoyable. This is the point I was making with mental chatter and believing any old, stray thought that comes our way. Then I switched my focus in subsequent sessions to associating the bells and country sounds of birds and nature to feeling calm, peaceful and content inside..... so my experience of BrainEv was more pleasant, and I entrained fast! [Again, notice how what I told myself influenced my experience. I would like to learn to experience things without all this interference by inner talk.]

Celebrate your ability to be consistent with  the program. Having followed the forum for several months now, it is clear that those who stick to the program and do a session daily with one day off per week are the ones who cross the finishing line. My current opinion is that alpha frequencies are essential for my mental health - I have a tendency to get stuck in higher, faster more busy-busy beta levels. So everytime I listen to BrainEv and the calmer alpha is delivered, my brain gets a reset. A reset for the better. Alpha frequencies make me feel happy. It is a perfect anti-depressant for me.

@Dreamer: I agree that the bells and nature sounds help one stay with the track and this curbs the natural tendency of the mind to rush on with its endless stream of chit-chat. The tolling bells brought me back from the brink of sleep sometimes, or it reminded me I was 'in session now' and to flow with that.

@GadgetGirl: Hi and welcome to the foum, ditto Sayjess! Your experience of level 2 mirrors my own. It looks as if you are entraining beautifully, getting all the calming, soothing and feel-good effects of lots of exposure to alpha frequencies. Your experience of your mind "wandering of at different tangents" is interesting. When this happens, observe your inner mind-screen. If the thoughts are crystal clear and highly visual you are synchronised and producing mostly alpha waves; if those mental journeys are fuzzy, hazy then you could be entraining into theta, a deeper, lower, less conscious wavelength. So don't fret over mental wanderings, just return to the session when you have 'observed' their content and nature.

Best wishes to all three of you and may level 2 be a magnificent, calming brain-resetting journey. I too am on level 2, round 2. May the bells toll for you and alpha enter your soul, Pure Bliss

Pure Bliss,

Thanks again for your thoughts and observations and yes I agree with you it is nice to share your experiences here, especially as being new to Brain Ev but not new to Brain Entrainment as a whole I am finding it to have far more effect on my general states of being than I had expected..

Here is to joining you at some point in the very near future in pure bliss hehe  :)
