I'm getting about 8 hours sleep per night. Since my first post, I have listened at bed time and first thing in the morning. I do not notice anything such as lack of motivation after those listening sessions (obvious for before bed). When I listen first thing in the morning it doesn't 'seem' as if I go as deep as I do when listening mid day or after work.

I may try another mid day tomorrow and see if the effect is gone.

The mental fog sounds like a sign that it is working, to me. It will probably come and go in cycles while you are using BrainEv. While you are pushing forward, you will find more resistance, and mental fog is a form that it can take. When you reach a new level things smooth out and you can enjoy the improvement for a while. Then something shifts and you find yourself moving upward again. With meditation almost all the action is behind the scenes, and not in conscious awareness. That can be really frustrating because it makes evaluating your progress nearly impossible. When you really change, there is no looking back. It can feel like you always were the way you are, now. When it is time to move on, it is time to start the second CD. I would sooner suggest staying with level 1 until the fog goes away again than moving to level 2 before it is time, but you can take care of that by going through the six month program again some time. It has a much different feel to it when you are going back through for another round. Also, keep in mind that a seventh level is coming out next year. If you don't spend the full amount of time with each level, you may not get the full benefits from the final level.

Traditionally (Buddhism and possibly Hinduism, too) the best time to meditate is an hour before sunrise. Most people seem to say that if you set a schedule so that you consistently meditate in the same place at the same time that will help get results faster. I find my schedule makes being that consistent impossible. As long as you stay awake through it, the best time to meditate is whenever you have the time and opportunity to do it. The CDs make it possible to get the benefits of already being able to meditate, especially in the beginning, when it is most difficult. When you complete the course you will be able to meditate without them if you choose. If you already meditate without brainwave entrainment, you will find it much easier.

Staley,

Welcome to the board. I'm not a doctor and I can't tell you one way or the other to use Brain EV. I can share my experience because we have some things in common. When I was young I drank heavy and abused drugs. I've had problems with my self-esteem,depression and anger issues. Since starting this program it has all improved for me. I won't say over night and not as fast as I'd like (did I say I'm also impatient?) but slowly  I am improving in all areas. The main thing is my self-esteem is changed a lot. I speak my mind more without thinking maybe I'm not entitled to it.
For the record I'm starting into week 3 of level 3 and it is the toughest so far for me. My anger issues are surfacing again but they don't linger because I'm not holding them in.

I hope this helps you make your decision and good luck however you decide.

Hi guys,

I'm in my last week of disc 1 and up until now I've experienced great results. I.e. mental clarity, improved concentration, slightly more articulate etc.

However, I've very recently started to experience a relapse of mental fog - something I had before starting the program.

I'm wondering if this is a sign that I should move to level 2. BTW - I've slightly digressed from the recommended program in a sense that I have not taken a rest day at the end of the week.

Any comments much appreciated.

Thanks,
Sand. Smiley

In sleep you go all the way down to delta and back up again but it is an entirely different matter to be awake for the experience. When you consciously experience theta it is meditation but when you are asleep in theta it is just sleep.

It could be that the lack of motivation is a temporary thing.

Are you getting enough sleep / rest?

No one can stop you if you are determined, but the problem is that it leads to either falling asleep and missing part of the CD or having trouble sleeping after it is over.
