Can I read a book while listening to brainev?
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:43:38 PM »
I would find it very boring if I have to stay still n just concentrate listening. Would be more entertaining if I can do other thing while listening to it, like reading a book, surfing the net, doing homework, etc. Can I do that n would l get the same effect?

Hello Lilasrose,
First, welcome to the forum and I hope you amaze yourself with the benefits you get from BrainEv.
No, I would not read, do homework or anything else while you do your BrainEv session.
BrainEv is a subtle and extremely effective entrainment program.... therefore you will want your brain to be free of extraneous activity so that your entire brain is free to deal with entraining - believe me, this is already a big mental workout.
By the way, you don't have to attentively 'listen' to the track, you just relax as deeply as you can, put on your headphones, and let go........ the magic of entrainment happens when you deeply let go.
Best of luck, Pure Bliss

Hello!

Sorry, unfortunately you do need to close your eyes when listening to BrainEv.

With eyes open, brainwaves literally cannot get below a waking, alert-mind frequency. It's (practically) impossible. That means all of the good stuff that BrainEv does simply won't happen.

Sorry :P

Thank you Pure Bliss and Karl for your answer. In that case, can I just put my headphone at the time I go on bed n just let go and fall asleep on it? Or do I need to focus on listening to it?

You could try listening to the 15 minute sample at first if you are not sure you want to start out with 30 minutes.

If you are determined to have your eyes open and do other things you might want to consider entrainment with isochronic beats to beta and gamma. Unfortunately that is something other than BrainEv.

It would be better to listen to BrainEv somewhere other than where you normally sleep. You may still fall asleep through it, and it is okay if that happens, but it is better not to plan on sleeping through it.

Falling asleep won't help either. Sorry!

Sometimes we all fall asleep during these meditative sessions. It's completely natural!

But we shouldn't do that as a matter of course. The point of BrainEv is that you are consciously *listening* to the material. This helps to "work out" the brain, to use a simplified analogy.

When you're on your way to sleep, the brain isn't responding in quite the same way.

Meditation however often "feels" like sleep and can certainly bring more powerful benefits.

Why not do this instead? Wake up half-an-hour before you normally would, and listen to the CD then. You'll find you still receive all the benefit of sleep, without the necessary impatient need to actually be "doing something else" -- as you'll be just a little too tired and sleepy to try :)

I completely sympathize.  I am a gogogo kind of person, so forcing myself to sit still for 30 minutes and not work on all of the things I need to do was difficult at first.  After awhile, I noticed that I started thinking of it as "me" time.  A quiet and relaxing oasis in the middle of my hectic day (I would listen at lunch) and I would get upset if something would prevent me from getting my 30 minutes of calm.

Karl's suggestion is excellent.  After a few weeks of practice I think you will change your outlook!

Do I need to focus on listening to the sound or can my mind wanders like it wants?

Really, you only need to close your eyes and listen to the sounds.  The mind tends to wander and there is no problem with that as long as you aren't *thinking*.  I catch myself trying to do work by thinking about tomorrow's to-dos or make lists and have to turn that off in my brain.

Maybe that's the reason why I don't feel any perceptible change with my daily 15 min try. Ok, back to zero and I start all over again. Hope I will feel some positive results this time. Thanks all for your answer.

Hello,

I had this problem too, I think it comes down to a lot of our day to day lives are spent multi-tasking to fit everything in so when you find yourself with Brain EV and just have to lay or sit for 30 mins not thinking of stuff and just listening it can actually be really really hard.

I am reading Anna Wise book as recommended by Pure Bliss and one of her tips when trying to do this kind of thing is to focus on your tongue and try to imagine it as being shorter and relaxed and when you do this it is almost impossible to "think" since for many of us myself included thinking tends to be a kind of inner speech we have going so when you focus on relaxing and keeping the tongue still this helps turn these inner thoughts off...:))

So far u have used BrainEv, have u notice any big change like the claim? (Faster thinking, master emotions, increase mental capacity(very interresting the photographic memory claim), sharpen your brain, dissolve worry, release bad habit, being charismatic, better communicator, energetic n optimism).

Absolutely agree -- that tongue tip is excellent :)

@Lilarose -- Yes, I have definitely noticed such improvements, but I am absolutely bias. Do feel free to dig around this forum to learn more of what people have experienced when sitting the BrainEv program.
