Deep Sleep
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:41:05 AM »
I love Deep Sleep! I awaken focused and refreshed, generally needing less sleep than before.

I have a question: on the CD, why isn't Deep Sleep the second track instead of the first? I don't fall asleep because I have to reach over and turn off the player once the track's done.  (I actually don't like the idea of leaving the player on all night regardless, so would still have to turn it off 8)).

Absolutely a brilliant point, Nowme!
I had the same difficulty when I wanted to listen to the Happy Pill. It was difficult to relax and drop into the session because I was aware a second track would start. I love how `Brain Ev has one level per CD. There are two sessions on each Brain Salon CD so one has the feeling of having to stay alert and switch off the second one.

That is a suggestion for future Brain Salon versions. One track per CD.

My CD player has a button that lets me play only the current track.  I was unaware this wasn't a common feature.  It repeats the track but at least it doesn't go on.

I found that setting on mine accidentally after months of using it lol. It's been a while since I used it, but it was one button (mode or something like that) that cycled through shuffle only, loop track only, loop disk, or shuffle/loop disk. But it didn't say with words what each setting did, it just changed a tiny icon and I had to figure out what each icon meant. So with any luck some of you might have similar settings hidden away. It is a bummer the sleep track isn't at the end, but there may be some sort of work around. Good luck!

Not sure if I am hyjacking your post, Nowme1, but it seems sensible to add my experience of Ultra Deep Sleep to yours.

Level 4 weeks 3 and 4 have seen me revert to type: insomnia which is hampering my daytime functioning, plus it is most annoying for my Best Beloved to sense my brain firing at every synapse when sane mortals should be recuperating. This wakefulness is plain boring for all concerned. Circular thoughts of no real content going absolutely nowhere.

I had two options: either put on a Brain Ev level 1 session as this seems strongly hypnogogic and banishes any form of thought for significant periods (just my experience). Or try Brain Salon's Ultra Deep Sleep. We have it on my iPod now, so no risk of snoozing off to Deep Sleep and then waking up to a track designed to gizz me up. [Nikaya and Tiffany, thanks for the pointer regarding the mode button on CD player..... I will investigate this option too.]

Forewarned is forearmed as they say and I knew I was in for an electronic fruit salad (if this puzzles you, refer to my Happy Pill contribution). Distraction was what I needed, I thought, so I put in my earplugs, picked up a trashy romance I have read twice..... and let the celestial seasoning run while keeping my mind on the book. About 7 minutes later I noticed I was calming towards sleep, so I put out my light, and attempted sleep.

That was the last I knew of anything until 6 a.m. when the alarm woke me. As it was Sunday morning, I went back to sleep seamlessly until 8.30. Eureka! Great news for both Best One and me. I have no memory at all of the soundtrack, so it works if I can let go of my focus on the annoying electronic sounds.

I am so pleased because I really would like to use Brain Salon to induce brain states as required.

You're absolutely right: it *would* make more sense for it to be track 2, or have its own CD.

We included two tracks on each CD so that we could minimize both the physical production cost of the Brain Salon (hence making it cheaper to purchase) and also to reduce environmental impact.

I would definitely just try using the MP3 version on your iPhone (etc) instead.

Most CD players does have a loop/repeat-one-track function, however you don't always want that with a session, and not all sessions are designed to be looped.

Hi Jeff,

All customers get access to the MP3 download area where you can get each track for Brain Salon individually.

If you don't know your download link, email support@brainsalon.com and we can send it to you!
